Macho Man’s With Unique Smell Attracts Women Like Magnets! Posted: 12 Feb 2011 06:29 AM PST London:A new research by German psychologists has revealed that macho men have a different type of body odour to others. It is believed that the phenomenon helps women sniff out alpha males, in the belief they will provide them with healthy kids. The scented signal may also provide wimps with a subtle warning that there is a superior male nearby who is not to be messed with. For the study, the researchers from Heinrich-Heine-University Dusseldorf examined the link between a man's sweat and his level of aggression, which is critical to the survival of a species, reports the Daily Mail. They attached cotton armpit pads to badminton players during an important tournament and did the same to a group of men running non-competitively. Women volunteers said the smell of both sweat samples was 'mildly unpleasant'. However, sophisticated tests on the womens' skin found they were more aroused by the badminton players' sweat, with anxious women the most sensitive. The researchers said exactly what makes the smell of competitive men more attractive is unknown. But hormones and increased testosterone levels during 'dominant behaviour' are thought to play a role.Source |
Posted: 12 Feb 2011 06:26 AM PST Today we are going to have a little photo excursion on a factory of dildo manufacturing. Cyberskin is a synthetic material that feels more like human skin. It is a porous material and cannot be sterilized. It often gets sticky after washing (which can be remedied by a dusting of cornstarch) and is more delicate and more prone to rips and tears than silicone dildos. "Packing dildos", which are not designed for penetration, are often made of this material. Phallus-shaped vegetables and fruits, such as banana or zucchini have even been used as dildos, possibly since prehistory. Smooth rocks of phallic shape are suited to use as a dildo. Any object of sufficient firmness and shape could be hypothetically used as a dildo. Yep, it's quit interesting I might say, if several months ago we'll presenting you how to make the adidas ball, now let's see how dildos are made, you can see the making of dildos from the first until the end.. A dildo is a sex toy, often explicitly phallic in appearance, intended for bodily penetration during masturbation or sex with a partner or partners. Enjoy The Making of Dildos |
Meet A Fishy Sports Car "McLaren Manta concept" Posted: 12 Feb 2011 06:23 AM PST Students from IED, Turin set out to design a sportscar for McLaren, one that would go beyond 320 kmph. The name of the concept points straight towards its inspiration, the Manta fish. The inspiration manifests itself in the form of fluid curves and lines on the car, with a somewhat "soft" appearance. Designers however, did not forget that the concept bears the name of McLaren and gave it a fairly good dose of the automaker's design-language. The concept isn't meant to be an "exclusive supercar," but rather an "everyday supercar," something you could drive to work. Is So Amazing Concept Of Futuristic car ever .Source |
Looking Peugeot Henosis Concept Supercar' Based on Hydrogen Fuel And "Gaming Skills" Posted: 12 Feb 2011 06:22 AM PST Henosis is a concept design, created by Alexei Mikhailov, who managed to foresee the future of modern automobiles, as they slip into the hands of the Xbox generation. Its aggressive, but still elegant look is coupled with its eco-friendliness, as the vehicle uses hydrogen fuel and a powerful battery. Peugeot henosis, concept supercar, hydrogen fuel, futuristic car, futuristic design, future vehicle. Today's kids will be tomorrow's drivers and buyers of today's concepts, the future mass production cars. In case this phrase made too little sense, imagine that thePeugeot Henosis uses gaming-style controls for basically any function. So, if you're an avid gamer and can't seem to get that driving license, start improving those gaming skills and coordination, as it's going to pay off. By the way, I have to mention that the car was designed for the 2008Peugeot design competition, but sadly didn't make it to the top 30. Too bad, as it looks great. Source 1 ---- Source 2 |

"Angel Car Concept" With Futuristic Look and A Bit of Retro Charm Posted: 12 Feb 2011 06:13 AM PST Angel is a concept car inspired by the fairy angels at a minimal and very pure design manner. Peugeot Angel is specially designed for city use that will give the users an unbelievable driving experience. This concept car has a futuristic look with a little bit of retro charm. All the front wheels have a standard car like look but the rear wheels are functioning on idea of circulation of opposite magnetic fields and this movement actually develops magnetic field that aloes this superb car to be levitated in its back. With this process the Angel car is lighter than traditional cars and requires less power to perform smooth drive. Source |

Like-humans' Bacteria make thrift a habit Posted: 12 Feb 2011 06:08 AM PST "Like humans Bacteria make thrift a habit" Washington: Just as humans sometimes prefer to spend on recyclable materials over use-and-throw items, bacteria too 'spend' more on proteins that will be used and recycled internally than on proteins that are secreted from the cell and lost to the environment, says a new study. The bacterium Escherichia coli prefers recyclable proteins over those that cost more (in terms of energy) for the cell to produce, says the new study. Differences in size, complexity and chemical properties make some amino acids cheaper for cells to produce than others. Daniel R. Smith at the University of Michigan and co-author Matthew Chapman looked up previously tallied synthetic costs of all amino acids found in proteins. They used those figures to calculate the total cost of each E. coli protein; then for each protein, they divided total cost by the number of amino acid subunits in the protein to arrive at an average cost. "When we compared all the proteins in E. coli, we found that CsgA was an outlier," Smith said. "It was one of the cheapest to produce," he added. CsgA is rich in glycine, a cheaply produced amino acid, so CsgA also should be inexpensive for bacteria to produce. "Bacteria are secretion machines," he said. "They're very good at getting proteins out of the cell. But they have no import system. They're very bad at getting proteins back in. So when they secrete proteins, they lose resources." The conclusion was: extracellular proteins are more economical. In fact, a protein's location is a better predictor of its economy than its abundance, function or size. The researchers performed similar protein economy calculations for a wide range of bacteria, as well as for yeast, and found the same trend: proteins secreted to the extracellular environment are made up of cheaper-to-produce parts than are proteins found inside the cell. "Evolution has to balance function and cost," Chapman said. "Function is most important-if an organism makes a cheap protein that doesn't function efficiently, that's a waste. But if an amino acid substitution reduces metabolic cost without affecting function, that will improve the organism's evolutionary fitness."Source-- Image Source |

Gecko' Inspired Material Could Make You Scale Buildings like 'Spiderman' Posted: 12 Feb 2011 05:50 AM PST London: You could soon be scaling buildings just like Spiderman, thanks to sticky gloves and shoes, which are being developed using a material that allows the wearing to stick and climb up walls. Researchers have already created a new textile inspired by geckos, which has been tested successfully on a small robot that can scale smooth surfaces such as glass and metal. ngineers now want to "scale up" the design for humans as part of a project that has been codenamed Z-Man. Geckos' ability to defy gravity is due to microscopic hairs on their toes, increasing the surface area, which creates a "one-way adhesive". A sticky bond is created with each step but that bond can be broken by movement in the other direction.echnicians have struggled over the last 10 years to create an artificial version strong enough for a vertical climb to be attempted successfully. However, researchers at Stanford University, California, have created a rubber-like material covered with thousands of tiny polymer fibres to imitate the gecko's hairs. These hairs, which are called setae, are ten times thinner than a human hair. The material is said to be strong and reusable, and leaves no residue or damage. It has been tested on a "robotic gecko" called Stickybot, which can walk up panes of glass. Scientists are now on the way to making a version of the material that "would allow humans to climb with gecko adhesive." This would allow someone to hang and support his or her whole weight using the material. "Unless you use suction cups, which are kind of slow and inefficient, the other solution out there is to use dry adhesion, which is the technique the gecko uses," the Telegraph quoted Professor Mark Cutkosky, the lead designer, as saying. The secret lies in the gecko's "one-way adhesive" which makes them very sticky when they touch a surface in one direction - but then come free when pulled back in another. "It's very different from Scotch tape or duct tape, where, if you press it on, you then have to peel it off," the Telegraph quoted Cutkosky, an expert in "bio-inspired robotics", as saying. He added: "Other adhesives are like walking around with chewing gum on your feet: You have to press it into the surface and then you have to work to pull it off. But with directional adhesion, it's almost like you can sort of hook and unhook yourself from the surface." The Stickybot is shaped like a gecko with four feet, each about the size of a child's hand. As it steadily moves up the wall, the robot peels and then sticks its feet to the surface with ease, just like a real gecko. Stanford University said efforts to make the material strong enough for humans was "in the works."Source |

Scientists have identified a new genetic risk factor for Lou Gehrig’s disease Posted: 12 Feb 2011 05:40 AM PST London: Scientists have identified a new genetic risk factor for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, commonly known as ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease. Using yeast and fruit flies as simple, yet rapid and powerful models, then following up with human DNA screening, an international study led by biologists and neuroscientists from the University of Pennsylvania found evidence that mutations in the ataxin 2 gene were a genetic contributor to the disease. More specifically, the study shows that expansions of a run of the amino acid glutamine in ataxin 2 are associated with an increased risk for ALS, with a frequency of 4.7 percent of ALS cases examined. There is no cure for ALS and the current treatment only slows disease progression. The identification of pathological interactions between ataxin 2 and TDP-43, another ALS-associated disease protein, together with the strong genetic association of ataxin 2 intermediate-length polyQ expansions and ALS, should aid in the development of biomarkers and empower the development of new therapies for this disease.Source---Image Source |
Meet Hippo Man Fei Jianjun Going to have operations to remove the tumor from the nose Posted: 12 Feb 2011 05:36 AM PST 41-year old Fei Jianjun from Maxiang village (Jilin province in China), who has been cruelly nicknamed "Hippo Man" is going to have operations to remove the tumor from the nose - finally ending his misery. People in the village are scared of him as they believe that they will fall ill if they look at him. Fei receives a CT scan at a hospital in Changchun, Jilin province August 19, 2010. Fei found a red knot on his nose last September, which then grew into a size as big as a human fist. He did not receive any medical treatment due to poverty until the hospital offered him a free surgery, local media reported. His condition began as a small bump on the end of his nose nearly a year ago - but it now covers so much of his face that his eyes have been pushed onto the side of his head. Doctor Zhang Jianjun, of Jilin Military General Hospital, said Fei suffers from very severe form of nose cancer, and will die within six months without immediate treatment. "We will give him radiation therapy first to shrink the tumor underneath, and then we'll perform plastic surgery on him," he said. Well i feel really sorry for fei jianjun conditions. hope that the operations of his Rhino Carcinoma will end his misery. Here's a picture of Fei Jianjun the Huge Nose man caused by a nose tumor or called as Rhino Carcinoma. |
How The 1st Super-Massive Black Holes Were Born Posted: 12 Feb 2011 05:34 AM PST London: Astronomers believe they have discovered how the first super-massive black holes were born. The discovery about the origin of our universe's first super-massive black holes, which formed some 13 billion years ago, fills in a missing chapter of our universe's early history, and could help write the next chapter - in which scientists better understand how gravity and dark matter formed the universe as we know it. Ohio State University astronomer Stelios Kazantzidis and colleagues describe computer simulations in which they modeled the evolution of galaxies and black holes during the first few billion years after the Big Bang. Our universe is thought to be 14 billion years old. Other astronomers recently determined that big galaxies formed much earlier in the universe's history than previously thought - within the first 1 billion years, Kazantzidis explained. These new computer simulations show that the first-ever super-massive black holes were likely born when those early galaxies collided and merged together. "Our results add a new milestone to the important realization of how structure forms in the universe," he said. For more than two decades, the prevailing wisdom among astronomers has been that galaxies evolved hierarchically - that is, gravity drew small bits of matter together first, and those small bits gradually came together to form larger structures. Kazantzidis and his team turn that notion on its head. "Together with these other discoveries, our result shows that big structures - both galaxies and massive black holes - build up quickly in the history of the universe. Amazingly, this is contrary to hierarchical structure formation," he said.Source----Image Source |

Awesome Scientists Create Liver Cells From Patients skin Posted: 12 Feb 2011 05:30 AM PST Washington : Scientists at Cambridge University have created liver cells in a lab for the first time by reprogramming stem cells taken from human skin, paving the way for potential new treatments for liver diseases that kill thousands each year. The new research has demonstrated how to create diseased liver-like cells from patients suffering from a variety of liver disorders. By replicating the organ's cells, researchers can not only investigate exactly what is happening in a diseased cell, they can also test the effectiveness of new therapies to treat these conditions. It is hoped that their discovery will lead to tailored treatments for specific individuals and eventually cell-based therapy - when cells from patients with genetic diseases are 'cured' and transplanted back. Additionally, as the process could be used to model cells from other parts of the body, their findings could have implications for conditions affecting other organs. "Our work represents an important step towards delivering the clinical promises of stem cells. However, more work remains to be done and our group is dedicated to achieving this ultimate goal by increasing the knowledge necessary for the development of new therapies," Dr Ludovic Vallier of the MRC Centre for Stem Cell Biology and Regenerative Medicine, University of Cambridge, principal investigator of the research, said. For their research, the scientists took skin biopsies from seven patients who suffered from a variety of inherited liver diseases and three healthy individuals (the control group). They then reprogrammed cells from the skin samples back into stem cells. These stem cells were then used to generate liver cells which mimicked a broad range of liver diseases - the first time patient-specific liver diseases have been modelled using stem cells - and to create 'healthy' liver cells from the control group. Importantly, the three diseases the scientists modelled covered a diverse range of pathological mechanisms, thereby demonstrating the potential application of their research on a wide variety of disorders. Dr Tamir Rashid of the Laboratory for Regenerative Medicine, University of Cambridge, lead author of the paper, said: "We know that given the shortage of donor liver organs alternative strategies must urgently be sought. Our study improves the possibility that such alternatives will be found - either using new drugs or a cell-based therapeutic approach."Source |
